Genetic variant in a sea of DNA: MURAT

Identifying rare variants in health and disease is the goal of many genetic studies.  Phenotypes associated with the disease sometimes include many physiological measures.  Many times these measures are themselves correlated adding to the complexity of multiple testing.  Celia Greenwood, Scientific Director of the Ludmer Centre, and a team of researchers have developed of a novel region-based multivariate test, Multivariate Rare-Variant Association Test (MURAT), to analyze multiple continuous phenotypes simultaneously.  Multivariate tests are more powerful than univariate tests when multiple phenotypes are correlated. Read more
